SAVANNAH - Daniel Randolph Sims, Sr., 68 loyal son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend died June 11, 2015. He attended Armstrong State College on a basketball and baseball scholarship where he received All-American honors while excelling in both sports. He was also the recipient of the President's Cup for the athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average.
After graduation, he served in the National Guard and began his forty year career in the banking industry. In 1995, Danny was inducted into the Armstrong State Athletics Hall of Fame. In 2010, he was inducted into the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame.
During his retirement years, Danny devoted his time to his family, especially his grandchildren. Danny was frequently spotted at school and sporting events in which his grandchildren participated. He cherished the times he and Mayette spent with friends old and new.

During high school, the Sims' house was the place to be because of the warmth and kindness of Mr. Danny and Miss Mayette. He was always our biggest booster and loudest cheerleader in the stands and a man who was greatly admired and respected by all of us who were fortunate enough to spend time in his presence and receive his hospitality. Daniel, Natalie and Miss Mayette, my sincerest sympathies and condolences for such a tremendous loss for all of us.
